Revolutionizing Design: The SKT Facade

Easywith's Kinetic Media Facade: A Blend of Art, Technology, and Innovation

The SKT Facade is a unique design that stands out due to its kinetic media facade. This facade contains SK Telecom’s main keyword, 5G, and it effectively led people's attention by viewing motion graphics with flexible movements of the facade. The design team drew out the graphic motif, Cube, from mobile and composed motion films into 4 stages of graphics that contain Autonomous Vehicle, 360 Video Call, Quantum cryptography, AI Service, Smart Home, IoT, Public Safety services by using icons and titles.

The technology behind the realization of the SKT Facade is as innovative as the design itself. The entire facade is a 10 x 20 array of square modules. These modules are designed to be moved by motors that run through network servers. The dimension of the Kinetic Media Facade is 2600 x 1400 x 5400(h)mm, with each square module measuring 250 x 250mm and weighing 30 kg. The total weight of the facade is about 6 tons.

The SKT Facade was strategically located at the entrance of the exhibition hall, ensuring that it was hard for people to miss. Its humongous size and eye-catching movements were enough to make people stop and watch, creating an opportunity to gather people to the booth. In addition, people could see a brief summary through the wall before entering the exhibition space, helping them to get involved easily.

The design of the SKT Facade was not without its challenges. The Mobile World Congress, where so many innovations and technologies are already born, is a tough place to create something new. The design team overcame this challenge by combining kinetic media and content media, resulting in the reinvention of the Kinetic Media Facade that had never been seen before.

The SKT Facade has been recognized for its innovative design and was awarded Silver in A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award in 2019. This award is given to top-of-the-line, creative, and professionally remarkable designs that illustrate outstanding expertise and innovation. The SKT Facade, with its strong technical characteristics and splendid artistic skill, certainly fits this description.
